Graduation + Portrait Session in Fresno, California | Confidence in Front of the Camera

This session was extra special for me because it was with a longtime friend I’ve known for over eight years. When he reached out about a month ago asking if I could take his graduation photos — and a few updated portraits just because — I was beyond excited. Not only was it amazing to reconnect, but I also knew this was a big step for him since he told me that being in front of the camera was a little outside his comfort zone.

That’s what made this session so meaningful. For him to feel comfortable enough to reach out and trust me with something like this meant the world to me. We talked about the vibe and aesthetic he wanted, and he let me take creative control — which gave me the perfect chance to really plan out some fun ideas and unique shots.

When we arrived at the location, we ended up doing three outfit changes across three different spots, giving his photos plenty of variety. He showed up looking cool, calm, and confident — and I was 100% his hype girl the entire time. By the end of it, we were both laughing, joking, and capturing so many great moments that felt effortless.

At one point, he mentioned being worried he’d look awkward in front of the camera, and I told him, “Trust me — you won’t.” And sure enough, every single photo came out amazing. Seeing how much he loved the sneak peeks and how confident he looked in his photos made me so proud — not just as his photographer, but as his friend.

This is truly one of my favorite parts about what I do. I love when people come into a session thinking they might look awkward, but they leave realizing just how great they look and how fun the experience can be. That confidence, that comfort, and that joy — that’s what I strive to capture every single time.
