Wildflower Maternity Session at Pine Flat | Fresno, California Maternity Photographer
One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is getting to walk alongside couples through different seasons of their lives, and this maternity session was such a beautiful reminder of that. I previously photographed this sweet couple during their couples session at Shaver Lake for their five-year anniversary, so when they reached out asking if I could photograph their maternity photos, my immediate response was, “Oh my goodness, absolutely.”
While we were catching up, I asked them how long after their couples session they found out they were expecting, and they told me something so special—they had actually found out they were pregnant one week before their anniversary photo shoot at Shaver Lake. Hearing that instantly made those photos feel even more meaningful. What was originally an anniversary gift to themselves unknowingly became the beginning of documenting a completely new chapter in their lives.
For their maternity session, we chose a dreamy field of wildflowers near Pine Flat Lake, and it could not have been more perfect. The soft wildflowers, open space, and golden light created such an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. Everything about the evening felt peaceful, natural, and full of excitement for what’s to come.
We spent the session laughing, catching up, and soaking in this beautiful season of life together. One of my favorite things about photographing maternity sessions is witnessing the quiet anticipation between couples—the way they look at each other, the excitement in their conversations, and the love that already exists for a baby they haven’t even met yet. Those moments are what make sessions like this feel so emotional and meaningful.
Being trusted to document their relationship first as a couple and now as future parents is something I truly don’t take lightly. Watching my clients grow, evolve, and build families is one of the most special parts of this job, and sessions like this are exactly why I love photography so much.
This wildflower maternity session will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I’m so grateful I got to be part of such an exciting milestone for this beautiful couple.
