Yosemite One-Year Anniversary Photo Shoot | A Sentimental Session in the Mountains

Back in June, I made a post saying I wanted to photograph a couple in Yosemite National Park — something I’d never done before but had been dreaming of. Yosemite is one of the most breathtaking places in California, and I knew one day I wanted to create magic there. Little did I know that the perfect opportunity would come from someone very special.

One of my childhood friends — someone I’ve known for 14 years — reached out and said she and her husband would love to do a one-year anniversary photo shoot in Yosemite, right around the time I was hoping to go in October. This friend was one of my first ever friends, so to be trusted with capturing such an important milestone in such an iconic place truly meant the world to me.

Road Trip, Motion Sickness & Mountains

We carpooled together and made the drive up, laughing the whole way — until I got slightly carsick (but don’t worry, that passed quickly 😂). Once we arrived at our first location — a spot I had seen online and bookmarked for months — I could instantly see why Yosemite is such a sought-after place for photos. The sun was glowing through the clouds, the granite cliffs stood tall around us, and every angle looked like a postcard.

We spent the afternoon exploring, taking photos against Yosemite’s stunning backdrops — mountains, trees, meadows — you name it. The lighting was perfect, the weather was kind, and my couple looked effortless against the scenery.

More Than Just a Session — A Full Experience

After shooting, we grabbed lunch, rested a bit, and later had dinner together before heading home. It wasn’t just a photo session — it was a full experience. We got to reconnect, reminisce, and make new memories in one of the most breathtaking places on earth.

Being able to photograph someone I’ve known for more than half my life — especially for something as meaningful as their first anniversary — was incredibly special. I’m so grateful for this opportunity, and I already can’t wait to go back to Yosemite for more sessions.
