A Surprise Engagement at the Jingle Bell Run | Fresno, California
December brought one of the most special moments I’ve ever had the honor of capturing—my sister’s surprise engagement. Her boyfriend had been planning this moment for weeks and chose the perfect setting: the Jingle Bell 5K Run in Fig Garden, Fresno, California. She had absolutely no idea what was coming, which made the surprise even more meaningful.
As she crossed the finish line after running alongside nearly 3,000 runners, he was waiting for her. Let me just say—trying to photograph a surprise engagement while thousands of people are running straight toward you is no easy task. It was chaotic, fast-paced, and honestly a little stressful, but none of that mattered once he got down on one knee.
The moment itself was intimate, emotional, and full of love. Both of their families were there cheering her on, and her best friend was on FaceTime so she could be part of the moment too. Watching her realize what was happening and seeing the joy on her face is something I’ll never forget. It was one of those moments where everything else fades away, and all that exists is love and celebration.
Being able to photograph (and vlog) my own sister’s engagement is something I’ll forever cherish. These are the kinds of moments that remind me why documenting life’s milestones is so important. I’m beyond happy for them and so excited to watch them step into this next chapter together—and yes, wedding planning is officially underway 🤍
