Western Sunset Birthday Portraits at Millerton Lake | Self-Love Session
One of my favorite types of sessions to photograph are the ones done just because — no major event, no big announcement, just pure celebration of self. A few months ago, this beautiful young woman reached out to me wanting to book birthday portraits to honor herself and everything she’s overcome. I was immediately in.
She wanted a mix of western sunset meets beach sunset — so of course, there was only one perfect location… Millerton Lake. With golden skies, sandy shores, and open terrain, it gave us the best of both worlds.
The Session
From the moment we started shooting, I could tell this wasn’t just about photos — it was about confidence, growth, and stepping into her power. She trusted me fully to bring her Pinterest board vision to life, and together we created a gallery filled with warmth, movement, and a whole lot of glow.
We laughed, ran through the water, played with the light, and honestly? It felt more like hanging out with a friend than working. Getting to know her and hearing her story made the session even more special — it was heartfelt, empowering, and such a reminder of why I love what I do.
